Late last month, we reported how a (new) Shrek 4D film would be coming to Alton Towers next season.  This would, in actual fact, be part of an entire retheme of Storybook Land to a Shrek themed land of Far Far Away (the place where the Shrek films are based). However, the deal between AT and Dreamworks has been cancelled.  It is rumoured this is due to a lack of quality of the area on Alton Towers' behalf, so Dreamworks cut the deal.    This came in the late stage of development of the project - with the 4D cinema already being prepared and Shrek-related theming already being at Alton Towers itself. It is thought that Alton Towers will try and get a new 4D film nonetheless, perhaps an in-house Simworx one, who have worked with Merlin previously. We will keep you updated as we receive news.
