Blackpool Battle Bad Weather and Brown

The Sunday Times has recently published an article on Pleasure Beach Blackpool and the effects that the current global economic position and typically poor North-Western weather has had on their finances. It read:-
ONE of Britain’s best-loved seaside attractions, Blackpool Pleasure Beach, is fighting the effects of poor weather and the recession. The business, which thrills visitors with rollercoaster rides such as Avalanche and Infusion, dived into the red in the year to April 5, 2009. It recorded a £3.9m loss compared with a £4m profit the previous year and sales dropped from £34.3m to £29.6m. As a result of the poor summer season in 2008 and the credit crunch, a review was carried out to reduce costs, improve margins on profitable parts of the business and cut back on unprofitable aspects of the park’s operations
Times would appear difficult for the historic park and its devoted fans - Hopefully, for the sake of the industry, it will be able to bounce back from the position it finds itself in and make a full recovery. Discuss on our forums HERE
