Blackpool Bares Bikini Bottom
The worst kept secret in theme park
history finally became a reality as
Blackpool Pleasure Beach announced
the arrival of Nickelodeon Land on
the site of the former Beaver Creek.
Costing nearly 11 million pounds, Blackpool has decided to
follow the lead of the likes of Drayton Manor and Paultons Park,
and convert a large area of the park into a land themed around a
recognisable IP, with it’s much vaunted team up with the
children’s media giants.
Attractions will be a mixture of new rides and massively
revamped old ones, including the ‘Zipper Dipper’ and ‘Roller
Coaster’ rides. New attractions include a Spongebob Squarepants
‘Twist and Splash’ ride, and a Avatar (not to be confused with the
movie) themed Disko ride.
"We are delighted to welcome Nickelodeon to Pleasure Beach.
Both of our brands represent fantastic family fun and
Nickelodeon Land will combine Pleasure Beach's reputation for
amazing rides and attractions with Nickelodeon's favourite fun
characters to produce a wonderful attraction, which will wow
visitors to the park." Oozed the park’s MD Amanda Thompson.
The attraction opens for the for the first time at the start of the
2011 season, in April. Just don’t tell Patrick.
