An 11 year old boy fell from a zip wire and died late yesterday afternoon. The incident happened at Greenwood Forrest Park, Snowdonia, a leading eco friendly Family Adventure Centre which boasts a people powered roller coaster.
A statement on the Parks website says:
"There was a tragic accident at GreenWood Forest Park on Easter Sunday. An eleven year old boy died when he fell from the zip wire - he was airlifted to hospital but his life could not be saved. All the equipment was checked at 10am in the morning and was all in good condition. We are cooperating fully with the police and the Health and Safety Executive in their investigation. We have always put safety as our number one priority and we are determined to understand fully what has happened. As a mark of respect to the family concerned we are closing the Park on Easter Monday. Our thoughts and sympathy are with the family of the boy."

The Swamp Wire only opened last Monday, and has attracted hundreds of people. At its highest point, it reaches 30 feet. The ride was officially opened by S4C’s Stwnsh presenters Lois Cernyw and Alun Williams. The website page, which has been removed, states: “It’s a ride that requires visitors to ‘launch’ themselves off a cliff in the wildwood, through the tree-tops and over the swamp on a 145-metre-long zip wire.”
