Classic End for Beano Land

logochessLast weekend saw the final curtain call for a much loved Land within Chessington World of Adventures with the closing of Beano Land after the park decided the area had served the park well for the last ten years, and that it was time to move on. Attractions such as Billys' Whizzer, Dennis the Menace’s madhouse and Roger the Dodger’s Dodgems will make way for a new Area in 2010. It seems that the rides will be rethemed to a Jungle type theme. There are rumours of a new ride for 2010, possibly a Zamperla Disk'O themed around a snake.

It was fitting that the final event in Beano Land was a custard Pie fight, which guests could join in with, for a pound, the money being donated to Merlins Magic Wand charity. Over 300 guests took up the option, and threw over 1,000 pies, weighing in at a hefty 216kg of real custard and 50kg of whipped cream, in less than 2 minutes to break the world record! General Manager, David Smith, commented: "We organised this custard pie fight to celebrate the end of Beanoland’s 10 fabulous years at the Park. Although we are all sad to see it go, we are excited about Chessington’s 2010 plans which will be announced in due course once we have cleared up all the mess!"
