Museum-cum-Theme park 'FLAMBARD'S can claim to have a UK first in its newly opened and oddly named 'Skyraker 001.' Despite sounding like the Bond film that never was, the ride is the UK's first spinning tower drop ride. Although sold as a thrill ride, the experience is more catered to it's sedate audience, being a latter day answer to the Polo tower at Morecambe Bay.
Costing £500,000, and being built by SBF Visa of Italy, the ride takes riders up 28m into the air (approximately 2/3 the height of Drayton Manor's Apocalypse) , in a plume of smoke, gently twisting as it goes, before dropping them down at 25km per hour. This however is the most intense of the 16 settings.
Riders must be over 1.3m to ride unaccompanied.Skyraker 001
