About this deal

I knew I would be in safe hands with Katy Watson and A Very Lively Murder was everything I hoped it would be! I'm not sure how much longer the conceit can hold, and I'm not sure how interested I'll be if these shift to being One Dahlia mysteries instead of Three, but I'm definitely planning to give the next one a shot. The cast is an intriguing mix of British A listers and up and coming talent, with plenty of egos jostling for supremacy leaving Posy unsure whether she has what it takes to be the new Dahlia or whether she really is the washed up child star the world believes her. This follows very closely from the events of the first book and it’s definitely worth reading first, as the events and characters are fairly central.

By the time we reach the final act revelations, we have grown with the characters and the potential for the series going forward is incredibly exciting. The story felt like a delicious puzzle to get stuck into and I found myself getting my notebook out to jot down ideas, very much like one of the characters in the book. I loved the little touches that showed the bond between the three Dahlias and that they genuinely care for each other. But filming must continue, nothing can stop it until there is a victim, a wild storm that strands them all and the possibility of another murder about to take place. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.

Example two: As the story progresses, you slowly start thinking that these women are delusional and are having some sort of mental problems, where they think they are Dahlia. It gave nostalgia, it gave golden era detective sleuthing, and it gave anything an Agatha Christie fan would enjoy. Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for my review.

But things take a nightmare turn when a prop weapon is replaced with the real thing - with almost fatal consequences for her fellow Dahlia, Rosalind King. As the body count rises a storm cuts off Ty Gwn leaving the cast stranded with a murderer amongst them.

Posy feels she is finally ready to make the role of Dahlia Lively her own, appearing alongside fellow Dahlia from the original films, Rosalind King who is playing an elderly relative. This is such a good story, as with the previous book, this is a little more intricate than the usual cosy crime. It wasn't a "page turner" for me; I could read a little bit, put in down, then go pick it back up later.badges that one of the characters creates are inspired and I hope will soon be available in really life? A Very Lively Murder is the second novel in the series and though it would work perfectly well as a standalone, where are many references to the events of the previous novel and I think it takes from the enjoyment somewhat if you are not aware of the whole history. In between filming scenes, signing autographs for locals, photoshoots on set and jetting off to France for an impromptu party, the three Dahlias do what they do best – surreptitiously sleuth. I loved the first book in the series, 'The Three Dahlias', so was pleased to be given access to an advanced copy of the second, so I could discover what the Three Dahlias were up to next.

Truth be told, Nina would not have fitted either, as she was pregnant, so why would she risk it all revenging something that happened 8 years ago now, when she is happy and about to have a baby, which she is excited about.Rosalind King has previously starred as Dahlia in the original movie series and now, young Posy Starling is taking the character back to the silver screen. With all that being said, I will read the next in the series, although I'm not as excited about it as I was with this one. As the murders happen, motives are unclear and the author lays plenty of false trails for the three dahlias as well as the reader to follow.
