About this deal

If you are treating cushions, you can then flip over the cushion and treat the other side, only once the first side is fully dry. I really wanted to give it a new look so I decided to use the outdoor fabric paint to give it a new look. The cotton wood trees in my neighborhood decided to shed cotton like crazy the day I painted these cushions, so I broke out my spray tent. Some people mentioned experiencing stiffness when using the paint and I think over-saturating your cushions with paint may be the cause of that.

Not some mixture to concoct with fabric medium, this stuff is actually absorbed into the fabric and leaves a dyed surface-no crunchies whatsoever. The paint is permanent, fast-drying, and safe to wash and dry (it is recommended to wait 72 hours before washing). For outdoor furniture and cushions, we highly recommend upholstery paint instead of waterproof outdoor paint. Thank you Melissa, I have an expensive sofa thats in great condition in my living room, the color is white and I had been thinking about having it painted a light gray with fabric spray. Not all waterproofing sprays are made the same, so it is important to check with the manufacturer of the product to see if they recommend the product for a particular use. Brown Waterproof Outdoor Fabric Spray Paint by Simply Spray® is a non-toxic, non-flammable aerosol paint for use on all absorbent and non-absorbent materials.

I wanted to try something a little different with the other pillow and created an ombre effect with two colors Medium Gray and Khaki. If the water 'beads' on the surface and does not soak into the fabric, this means it is already water repellent and should not need waterproofing. For best results, let dry for one to two hours before spraying another coat to achieve the desired color. IMPORTANT: AEROSOL spray cans, due to Australian Post Regulation, are classified as dangerous goods and must always travel by road only – overnight trucks (cannot be sent by air). However, if you apply too much fabric paint, or if the material you are applying it to feels very soft/silky/velvety prior to application, then it may slightly stiffen the fabric. The FabriCoat fabric paint soaks into the fibres of the fabric so even after painting it still looks and feels like it should.

If you have some fabric cushions, for example, that you need to dry out ready for treatment, the best thing to do is get them inside to avoid any further water absorption. I had this chair for a little while now, maybe a little over a year and the cushions were slightly worn but still in decent condition.

Once I sprayed both sides of the cushion, I let it dry for two hours and then it was ready to set them back in the chair! I’m guessing because this is a cushion and a good majority of the paint will be absorbed is why it’s taking so many coats? Therefore, if your project demands exact colour matching we highly suggest testing on a hidden area first. Using this spray paint to cover a patterned pillow took way more coats of paint than I expected it to.
