About this deal

On the first listen there were some tracks that she wanted me to skip – mainly the themes for programmes that she doesn't know or watch – but all the ones that related to programmes she knew she was thrilled by. We have a couple of CDs made especially for her, titled "Really Very Annoying CD" and "Annoying vol 2", featuring such wonders as Agadoo, Chocolatte, Star Trekkin', Purple People Eater, and "1,2,3,4,5" (actually Mambo Number 5). I went away for a few days recently, being a normal person (OK, one with a bit of a nail polish habit), rather than a mummy. Trouble is, I didn't know what to do with myself, and ended up listening to a random Spanish holiday cd, and Radio 2. He soon overcame his confusion why the shows were not on the TV and happily pranced and danced around the room the songs on the album.

If you're like me then it will be one that you don't quite know all the words to, but yet you still can't get it out of your head for the rest of the day. I also like that the album is a blend of old, familiar shows and new hit shows; with older favourites such as Postman Pat, Tweenies and Balamory featuring on the album alongside songs and theme tunes from newer shows such as Baby Jake and Rastamouse.I bought the 2010 version of this album first, but my 19 month old daughter noticeably fretted more in the car when songs she did not know came on. This CD is bang up to date and can turn my grizzly child in to a smiley, clappy, one on a car journey.

We have a couple of CD’s that the kids enjoy, namely Hands Up by Justin Fletcher and a Nursery Rhyme album, also sung by Justin and having listened to them millions many times, I was starting to wish for a change. There are 2 CD’s each containing 25 tracks, including the Summer and Winter songs and my personal favourites – Goodbye Sun, Hello Moon and The Time has come to say Goodnight which signals bedtime in our house. Children love CBeebies and also love all the songs that are either part of their favourite programmes, or are part of the CBeebies continuity bits between programmes.I also like to sing along to "Meet the Veggies", though Eddie tries to stop me, saying "Don't want it", when I ask him what he didn't want, he replies "Mama singing". And looking slightly confused, as to why she could hear all her favourite tv shows, but not see any of them. I think in time as little man enjoys this album more and more the will enjoy listening, singing and dancing to most of the songs even ones that he is not currently familiar with. Its first outing was in my car, taking the children to the local petting farm, which is about a 45 minute drive from house. We have listened to in the car a few times now and because it is music that little man is familiar with it has been a great distraction and kept him entertained as he sings, jigs, bops, claps his hands and swings his arms to the songs from the comfort of his car seat in the back.

Gigglebiz and Rastamouse are already massive favourites from days of yore- arguably in the same league as Thundercats, Jamie and the Magic Torch and Chorlton and the Wheelies for Best Ever Kids Theme. Even though little man does not watch a huge amount of TV he has a few favourite shows that he loves to watch and he always has a little dance to the theme tunes and songs within the shows. I'm a childminder and its even a hit with the children I look after to put on in the play room when they are playing, or to play musical instruments along to it.

There are a couple of theme tunes of shows that are no longer on Cbeebies, but the majority you will know if you are exposed to this wonderful tv channel for kids. I am impressed with the huge number of songs included on this album and I like the fact that because there is an impressive 50 songs there is plenty of variety of songs, themes and musical styles. One disadvantage to allowing your little ones to watch CBeebies is that you will find yourself suddenly in the shower, or driving the car, and humming along to one of the songs that you've heard in there. We've a couple of long car journeys coming up this weekend and LMC can get a bit impatient to reach Granny's house on these trips, so I'm hoping that having familiar music like this will help to distract her for a while longer as we head up the motorway. Another benefit from the album in my opinion is the fact that as the songs can be repeated and listened to again and again he will hear the lyrics often which will help him learn to sing along to the songs which in turn is beneficial to his speech development and learning of new words.

They are lovely songs, but if you have to listen to them several dozen times a day, then you start to wish you were elsewhere. This DVD is the best DVD ever you could purchase for your children for home and long journeys in the car. I like that it features big names, popular shows and commonly heard songs from CBeebies which means CBeebies fans will recognise many of the shows and songs featured on the album. As little man loves music I was pleased when we were given the chance to review a brand new album filled with songs from the popular TV channel CBeebies.
