About this deal

It matters not there as no sockets are switched live only as in the UK (and plugs have fuses in line only). Electrical hook-up points are always rated in amperes, yet appliances’ electrical demands are normally expressed in watts. Bare this in mind when you plug things in as you can easily trip out the post if you are overloading it, you may also trip out your fellow campers ( yes I have seen it happen ). Last resort was to empty the boot and look at the power supply cable at the converter but it looked okay. The general rule here is that you need to have a fuse or breaker that will break before the cable becomes the fuse wire as it were.

Previously it dropped and canvas became baggy at 4-6 days on hookup with the roof up, but I'm at day 5 now so have to wait and see. You can hook up a 10A kit to a 16A supply; however, you won't be able draw 16A due to the limitation on your 10A kit. The socket you plug into will most likely be a 2P+E 16A Ceeform, so assuming you're camping in a tent as opposed to plugging in a van or a caravan, you'll want an extension lead with a blue 16A plug on the end.

There are lots of campsites and caravan sites that have pitches with safety tested electric power points. was fine on a site next to a cider pub in October 2021 as part of a VW meet up for a couple of nights, and I did not need to use the air con being cold enough. Essentially, it consists of a hook-up post (or socket) by the on-site pitch, a socket in the side of your ’van, and a [tl:gallery index=1 size=215×129]lead to join them together. From there you’ll be able to plug in standard 3-pin plugs into it and use your appliances (or at least some of them).

A trip at this stage indicates a wiring fault in your vehicle’s socket, or between the socket and the circuit breakers – professional assistance is required. First time camping in France this year and I need to get a cable that will go into the hookup on site (I'm told it's 3 pin) that we can plug our own UK extension cable into. Maybe I should add that electricity, outdoors, is always a risk no matter what you use but the article picks which products I’ve used and what I’d recommend (along with many others).Motors such as those in fan heaters need a starting surge of nearly twice their usual current, while fluorescent lights use four or five times their usual current rating. There is always the option of adding a multi-USB plug for adding USB ports to a Electric Hook Up cable. Think about where you might place it in the tent, raised off the floor is best, our second one had clips which means it can attach to a steel pole, or table.
