About this deal

Architecture sets have always had a premium quality to them, with printed pieces preferred over stickers. The difference in material is attributed to the difference in construction dates; The Eiffel Tower was completed in 1889 when steel was still cost prohibitive, whereas the Tokyo Tower was completed in 1958. LEGO Architecture sets capture the essence of the world’s best-known buildings, monuments and cities. That’s too bad, since there are a dozen interesting buildings within the palace grounds that could have been included. The LEGO re-creation of both towers loses most of their graceful curving shape, and retains none of the latticework that reminds me of fine handmade lace.

This buildable skyline measures over 11” (28cm) high, 10” (27cm) wide and 3” (10cm) deep – you don’t need a lot of space to display it, but its vibrant colours and authentic details will catch the eye of every passer-by! The Architecture theme has a universal appeal as anyone who has ever travelled, or enjoys architecture, design, or culture, will enjoy displaying a conveniently sized model of their favourite city. Because the finished model is immediately recognizable and vibrant, I suspect many readers will still want to add it to their collection despite these misgivings.

I had been waiting for this set, as I lived in Tokyo for 13 years, and frankly this is disappointing.

While the base is not overly complex, I did notice that 1×5 Rotor (part 32124) is used in two places, allowing buildings to be attached using a Technic Axle connection.

When you use the birthday benefits, please present the official certificate that confirms your birthday at the counter. Tile (part 3069) in 199 Dark Stone Grey Dark Bluish Gray, with Map With Blue Circles Pattern (element 6226606). Despite never having visited Tokyo, I was immediately drawn to the bright colors and the staggered composition. Despite serious misgivings about the individual elements within the model, the completed set is lighthearted, cheery, and will look good on your desk or bookshelf. From iconic landmarks to city skyline models, there’s something for anyone interested in architecture, travel, history and design. However, during peak periods like Black Friday and Christmas, dispatching might extend up to 5 business days. Made of high-quality plastic and carefully crafted by Lego experts, this set is perfect for anyone who loves architecture and Lego building toys.

Shield your LEGO® Architecture: Tokyo Skyline set against being knocked and damaged for peace of mind. The most interesting aspect is a technique that I’ve never seen before where the eight soft axle 19L (part 32235) elements are hidden in a collar at the top but are not attached to anything. AAA batteries last about 4 nights of constant use, though if you use rechargeable (as you should for anything in life) it's really no big deal. Much like the real city, 21051 Tokyo manages to pack an awful lot into a relatively small space and although there's a diverse mix of colours and building styles, nothing clashes.
