About this deal

On a more basic level, I only included fire pits that an adult of reasonably good health and fitness could move by herself or himself, and that can fit into the trunk of any average-sized vehicle, as this is a roundup of portable fire pits, after all. Then I looked to those special features that differentiate these fire pits from one another—and that make them stand up above the rest on the market.

The WOLF GRIZZLY Fire Safe, Foldable Fire Pit is smaller than many of the other portable fire pits we’ve featured but don’t let that put you off. This small and stylish fire pit produces a great amount of heat at an amazingly efficient rate. Once it’s folded out, it’s a cone shape. Place your wood and kindling inside the stainless steel pit and set it alight! The main one: often, you’re not allowed a wood-burning fire in some parks, but you may still be allowed a gas fire pit. So you can get around a lot of the laws and still have a fire. This one’s CSA-approved, so you can use it in parks with campfire bans but still allow CSA-approved fires. One of the most important things to consider when looking at a camping fire pit is how easy it will be to transport. You should also think about how you will use it. For example, if you are going to be spending two weeks in one location, you may benefit more from a larger fire pit. It’s made from stainless steel and is fire safe, making charcoal or wood most suitable to start your fire. It comes in two parts that easily connect, both of which are foldable, so they fit nicely into its 100% recycled bag. It might be foldable, but it still feels robust enough to be reliable too. It’s easy to balance as its base has a large surface area, so it’s useful for most ground surfaces. It only weighs 2lb but can actually hold a fair bit of weight, so your fire will get going just fine.

Snow Peak Takibi Fire & Grill - Stainless Steel Portable & Collapsible Fireplace - 30 lbs, 5 Piece Set The fire pit features a fire bowl, mesh cover, charcoal grate, cooking grill, poker, and foldable legs making this portable pit easy to carry and yet stable. Made from sturdy and durable steel, this pit can be used as a barbecue and is easy to clean and maintain. The fire chamber within the Ranger is fed by air drawn in from below and then channeled directly to the fuel (wood, e.g). This results in a hotter and cleaner-burning fire with much less smoke, which is merely little bits of fuel that were expelled from a fire without being completely burned up. Before you set off into the wilderness, however, there are a few things you’ll be needing. Alongside the basics ( pop up tents, coats, boots, maybe a portable generatoretc), there’s one particular item that really does bring a sense of adventure to any camping trip- and that’s a fire pit.

If you’re just planning on having your fire pit sat in your car boot until you want to use it then this may not be as important but if you’re camping, hiking, or are having a day out when your car is not close at hand then you really need to think about the size. While we tested several collapsible fire pits, the Fireside Outdoor Pop-up Fire Pit has standout features in addition to its ability to completely break down and fit into a compact rectangular bag. We were thoroughly impressed with the lightweight stainless steel material that has a sturdy base when it’s put together. Although it was slightly difficult to pop the steel mesh cover into the legs while assembling the fire pit, we still think it’s amazing how the legs, sides, and mesh cover come apart for stellar portability. When the fire pit is assembled, it boasts an incredibly sturdy design that can hold the weight of several burning logs. The fire pit does an excellent job of emitting heat from the top, bottom, and sides to keep your feet and body plenty warm. We also found that when you take apart the fire pit, there will be ash and soot on the base, so you should be prepared for some messiness on your hands. However, once the parts go into the carrying bag, you won’t have to worry about ash getting everywhere. With all these design features and included accessories, it’s safe to say this fire pit really surpassed expectations. It worked great and the fire got going in no time, and the accessories really did come in handy. The spark protection cover was great at containing the fire, and the hook used to swap grilles around was probably the most useful tool out of the lot. This tells me that it won’t be unsafe at any point and is suitable to bring to any type of camping trip, such as those with young children or pets running around.

Since the fire pit is going to be exposed to extreme heat, you must make sure that it is made from robust materials that won’t warp from the flames. In short, the fire pit should be made from metal but the type of metals you will see will vary from product to product.
